Inclusive education in Namibia, Africa

Abstract

This field research study sought to determine what barriers inhibited Namibia, Africa, from fully implementing inclusive education. The study utilized different types of qualitative research methods and a diverse cross section of the target population. The research questions posed were from the categories of the educational budgeting and allocation, training of professionals, special needs learners receiving services, traditional/cultural beliefs, and existing data/research. Through the study, the critical area of need was found to be training of professionals (teachers, principals, teacher educators, and ministry officials). ^
