Abstract

The El Paso Committee to End the War in Vietnam was formed on October 23, 1965 by twelve current and former students of Texas Western history professor Richard Trexler. Although the group stressed its non-extremist views, it still faced much opposition from El Paso officials and some Texas Western faculty, administrators, and students, particularly over its decision to stage a peaceful demonstration in San Jacinto Plaza in November 1965. The FBI Files on the El Paso Committee to End the War in Vietnam, MS 633, date 1965 – 1973. These files are photocopies with redactions of the original documents. Types of materials include memoranda and reports about anti-Vietnam War demonstrations, planned protests, protestors, and possible draft evaders.
